Two Texas GOP Representatives Cleared of Campaign Finance Misuse Allegations

Earlier this week, the House Ethics Committee wrapped up investigations into two Texas Republican congressmen, Wesley Hunt of Houston and Ronny Jackson of Amarillo. The committee found no intentional misuse of campaign funds for personal gain. Jackson spent around $12, 000 at the Amarillo Club, while Hunt spent over $74, 000 at the Post Oak Hotel's exclusive Oak Room club.

Both representatives maintained that these expenses were for campaign purposes, such as fundraising events. The committee acknowledged the ambiguity in current laws regarding campaign spending and updated its guidance on personal use of campaign funds. The two representatives expressed their satisfaction with the committee's decision and their intentions to move forward with their work.
