U. S. Congressman Says Trump Will Keep Fighting Iran Over Oil

USAFriday, March 13, 2026
Rep. Austin Scott, a Republican from Georgia, told a news show that he believes President Trump will not back down from the war with Iran. He said the fight started because Iran keeps enriching uranium and that the U. S. must keep up its military actions. Scott is on two important House committees: Armed Services and Intelligence. He praised the Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine for preparing to brief reporters about the war. He described the conflict as a long‑planned effort that involves many U. S. agencies, not just the Department of Defense. Scott said Trump is a decisive leader and thanked the CIA for its work.
The operation, called “Epic Fury, ” began on Feb. 28 after Trump ordered a major strike campaign against Iran. Hegseth warned that the U. S. might face its toughest day of strikes yet. About 140 American soldiers have been wounded, and a U. S. refueling plane crashed in Iraq, raising the death toll to 11. Two crew members are still missing. Scott urged that battlefield decisions be based on facts and predicted the war would end sooner if this approach is followed. He contrasted Trump’s stance with past presidents, saying Trump will not stop the war over oil politics.
