After the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Evian, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced a late‑night call with former U.S. President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron. He called the conversation a “coordinating conversation” that could lead to significant policy shifts.

  • Trump: Zelenskiy thanked him for prioritizing Ukraine and for his willingness to push peace efforts forward.
  • Macron: He praised the French leader for the smooth running of the summit and the strong collaboration among participants.

Later, Zelenskiy spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels about the Evian outcomes. He emphasized:

  • The need to boost Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
  • Securing U.S. licenses for air‑defense production.

Zelenskiy reiterated his thanks to Rutte and vowed to make the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara useful for Ukraine’s security. He also highlighted an important meeting of the “Ramstein” group, a coalition of over 50 nations that supply financial and military aid to Kyiv. EU leaders will meet separately on the same day.

Defense Minister Mykhail Fedorov reported that Kyiv is seeking an additional $20 billion in military aid from allies. A defense source confirmed that Ukraine plans to present this request at the Ramstein meeting.
