Ukraine's Report: Russia Suffers Big Losses in One Day

Ukraine's Ministry of Defense shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) detailing Russia's losses in the war. On October 17, 2024, Russia reportedly lost 1, 420 troops, 133 vehicles, and 51 artillery pieces in a single day. This is just a part of the bigger picture, as Ukraine claims to have eliminated over 674, 000 Russian personnel and destroyed more than 19, 000 artillery systems since the war began. These losses are costly. Russia's artillery losses alone amount to $8 billion this year, with the total cost of lost equipment exceeding $73 billion. Despite these heavy losses, Russia has regained some territory in the Kursk Oblast. They've also gained support from North Korea, with thousands of North Korean soldiers joining the fight.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is receiving aid from multiple countries. Australia has provided 49 M1A1 Abram tanks, valued at $245 million. The U. S. has also given military aid, including medium-range cluster bombs and various rockets and munitions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been sharing his "victory plan" with world leaders to gain more support. Russia doesn't publicly disclose its military losses, making it hard to verify these claims. However, the war's impact is undeniable, with both sides suffering significant losses.
