Yekaterinburg, RussiaSunday, April 26, 2026

A Ukrainian drone struck a high‑rise building in Yekaterinburg, Russia’s fourth‑largest city, according to the regional governor. This is the first time a Ukrainian aircraft has hit the city since the war began.

  • Casualties: No fatalities, but several injuries; one woman required hospitalization.
  • Response: Residents were evacuated swiftly and emergency teams are on the scene.

Video posted on X shows smoke rising from the tower’s roof, with part of its exterior scorched and many windows blown out.
The clip was confirmed by Reuters.

Ukraine has not yet responded to the incident.

Yekaterinburg, home to about 1.5 million people, sits in the Ural Mountains and hosts numerous defense factories. The city lies more than 1,200 miles from Kyiv. Since the war started in 2022, Russia has bombed Ukrainian targets while Ukraine has carried out drone attacks inside Russian territory.
