Bragg's office is currently focusing on bringing Mangione to New York for trial. Additionally, Mangione faces charges for possession of a forged instrument and several counts of possessing a weapon. The New York Police Department has provided forensic evidence linking Mangione to the crime. Fingerprints from the scene and shell casings from the weapon match Mangione, who is accused of using a 3D-printed handgun. Bragg explained that the charge of second-degree murder was chosen because it allows for a quicker trial process than first-degree murder, which has specific circumstances. Second-degree murder in New York is punishable by 25 years to life.
