YouTube is taking a significant leap forward in its use of artificial intelligence, announcing a range of new features that will give creators and users more tools to produce and engage with content. The new AI features, including six-second AI-generated video clips, generative text and image output, and AI-enhanced suggestions for creators, mark a major shift in the way YouTube approaches content creation.
According to YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, the goal is to enhance human creativity, rather than replace it. The company is also introducing measures to ensure responsible use of AI, including watermarking and labeling AI-generated content to maintain transparency and trust.
One of the most exciting new features is Veo, a tool that allows creators to input text prompts and generate AI images, which can then be used as the basis for six-second clips. Mohan showcased this feature with an AI-generated video of a dog and a sheep becoming friends, giving us a glimpse into the endless possibilities.
