Unlocking the Power of Science: Ahmed Muhammad's Vision for a Brighter Future

Ahmed Muhammad, a 22-year-old Oakland native, has always been passionate about science. Growing up, he noticed that many of his peers didn't share his enthusiasm for the subject. This realization sparked a desire to make science more accessible and fun for young people, especially those from underrepresented communities. Muhammad's vision is to empower the next generation of scientists and innovators, and he's making significant strides towards achieving this goal. Muhammad's journey began when he was just 17 years old. He started a non-profit organization called Kits Cubed, which develops and distributes science kits with ready-made experiments and illustrated instruction pamphlets throughout the Bay Area. His goal was to provide young students with hands-on learning experiences that would spark their interest in science and technology.

Since its inception, Kits Cubed has donated over 40,000 kits to over 30 schools in the Bay Area. Muhammad's work has not gone unnoticed, and he has received support from the Warriors Community Foundation, which has provided grants and mentorship. The foundation's president, Nicole Lacob, has been instrumental in helping Muhammad's organization grow and expand its reach. Muhammad's passion for science is contagious, and his events are always a hit with kids and adults alike. At the annual STEM Fair, attendees can participate in interactive demonstrations and educational activities, such as extracting DNA from strawberries, playing with homemade rockets, and learning about astronomy. Muhammad's vision is to create a community where science is celebrated and accessible to all.
