Unmasking Conspiracy: COVID Beliefs in Japan

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, many conspiracies started to spread globally. But what about Japan? Are people there buying into these stories? A recent survey of over 28, 000 Japanese residents, aged 16 to 81, was conducted to find out. The goal? To understand how prevalent COVID-19 conspiracy theories are and who tends to believe them.

The results? It turns out, not everyone is convinced by these theories. But what's interesting is who is more likely to believe them. People who hang out on social media a lot or read conspiracy-based websites seem to be more drawn to these ideas. Also, those with lower trust in the government and scientists might be more inclined to believe in conspiracies. This study highlights an important fact: who you trust and where you get your information can shape what you believe. It's a reminder to be critical of where information comes from and to question claims that sound too good to be true.
