This identification marks the first time a transcontinental case has been solved through the "Identify Me" project. The "Identify Me" campaign is a worldwide initiative. It aims to give names to over 40 women found dead in six European nations over the past few decades. These women were often identified by unique features or locations where they were found. For instance, there was "the woman with the flower tattoo" and "the woman in the suitcase. " This practice is undignified and impersonal. Ainoha's journey began in Paraguay, where she left in 2013 to start a new life in Spain. Unfortunately, her story took a tragic turn when she was found hanged on a farm in Girona, Spain, in August 2018. The local community had no idea who she was. Her body had no identification, and the farm's residents and neighbors were clueless about her origins.

The breakthrough came in March 2025. Paraguayan authorities matched her fingerprints, provided by Spain, to their records. This match was possible thanks to the Interpol appeal launched in 2023. It was a significant step forward in the "Identify Me" campaign. The campaign had previously identified Rita Roberts, a British woman found murdered in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1992. Relatives recognized her by a distinctive tattoo. The campaign's goal is to restore dignity to victims and give a voice to those affected by tragedy. However, there is still much work to be done. Forty-five cases in the "Identify Me" files remain unsolved. This highlights the ongoing need for public involvement and advanced forensic techniques.
