Urban Medical Systems: How the Yangtze River Delta Cities are Evolving

The Yangtze River Delta is home to 27 major cities. Each city has its own unique medical system. Understanding how these systems work and change over time is crucial. This is especially true when considering the risks posed by urban disasters. The goal is to improve public medical services and distribute medical resources more fairly. To do this, experts have created a model to evaluate the medical system's capacity in these cities. They also tracked how this capacity has shifted over the past decade. The results show that the medical system's capacity in these cities can be grouped into five levels. The lowest level is 0. 193-0. 335, and the highest is 0. 549-0. 619. From 2011 to 2021, the capacity in all 27 cities improved each year. During this time, the center of this capacity was mostly in Xuancheng, with a trend of moving southwest. This shift is important to note, as it reflects changes in the region's medical system.

One interesting finding is the relationship between a city's size and its medical system's capacity. Larger cities tend to have a higher capacity. However, the gap between large and small cities is narrowing. This suggests that the region is moving towards a more integrated medical system.
