Vaccine Meeting Delayed: What's the Deal?
Thursday, February 20, 2025
Now, why the delay? Some public health experts were worried. The new HHS head, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. , has been critical of vaccines in the past, especially those for kids. So, there were concerns that the meeting might be delayed or postponed.
The meeting agenda was still up on the agency’s website. It included a presentation and vote on a meningococcal vaccine from a British drugmaker called GSK. There were also votes planned for a new chikungunya vaccine and a recently approved at-home nasal spray for influenza. GSK was expecting the meeting to go ahead as planned, but they didn't comment on the delay.
What's interesting is that this kind of thing happens. Meetings get postponed all the time. But this one is different. It's the first big meeting under new leadership. And it's about vaccines, which can be a hot topic. So, it's worth keeping an eye on.
This story is still unfolding. Stay tuned for more updates.
