Valerie Bertinelli and Mike Goodnough: A Love Story, Now a Thing of the Past

Valerie Bertinelli, the 64-year-old former star of the Food Network, has called it quits with her boyfriend, Mike Goodnough, after a 10-month romance. A source from People magazine confirmed the split on Tuesday. Bertinelli and Goodnough, who is 10 years younger, started their long-distance relationship in January. They met when Goodnough, a writer, commented on Bertinelli's Instagram post a few years ago. She felt an instant connection with him, describing him as a kindred spirit.

The couple turned their friendship into a relationship at the beginning of 2024, deciding to take a chance despite the challenges of a long-distance affair. They even created a "three-week rule" to ensure they saw each other regularly, despite living on different coasts. They made their relationship public in a big way at the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards in June. Bertinelli had been married before, to legendary musician Eddie Van Halen from 1981 to 2007. They had a son together, Wolfgang. Van Halen passed away in 2020 at the age of 65. After Van Halen, Bertinelli was in a long-term relationship with financial planner Tom Vitale. They married in 2011 but eventually separated in 2021, finalizing their divorce in 2022.
