Virginia Company Accused of Sneaky Tech Exports to Russia

Oleg Nayandin, 54, and Vitaliy Borisenko, 39, are the guys in trouble. They run Eleview International Inc. , a freight consolidation firm. The U. S. says they found sneaky ways to send tech to Russia through three countries: Turkey, Finland, and Kazakhstan. This was against U. S. laws meant to protect national security after Russia invaded Ukraine. The tech they sent included telecom equipment worth over $1. 4 million through Turkey, and goods valued at over $3. 4 million through Finland. Kazakhstan saw exports worth over $1. 4 million.

The U. S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Jessica Aber, says this is serious. She wants to make sure critical systems and tech don't end up in the wrong hands. If found guilty, Nayandin and Borisenko could face up to 20 years in prison. It's not just about them, though. The company is also in trouble. Matthew Axelrod, from the Department of Commerce Export Enforcement, says they used three different schemes to send U. S. tech to Russia. This isn't just about money; it's about national security.
