Vote Results & Roof Repairs: Farmingdale Schools' Superintendent Speaks

Tuesday brought mixed results for the Farmingdale School District's bond vote. Proposition One, worth $22. 15 million, passed, allowing for district-wide roof repairs and upgrades. The community showed support with 1, 202 yes votes. However, Proposition Two, valued at $55. 85 million, did not make the cut. It aimed to develop a fancy Career and Technical Education Center and improve arts facilities.

The superintendent, Paul Defendini, spoke up after the vote. He thanked the community for their continued backing. Roof repairs will kick off right away. "We're thrilled to start making our schools energy independent, " he said. Despite Proposition Two's failure, the district plans to discuss next steps. What if Proposition Two passed? It would have added six new programs to the high school. Students could learn to build homes, fix cars, weld, or even train as first responders. Arts rooms would have gotten a facelift too. But for now, it's all about those roofs.
