Washington's rookie quarterback leads underdogs to NFC title game

The Washington Commanders, led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, pulled off a big surprise in the NFL playoffs. They beat the top-seeded Detroit Lions 45-31 to advance to the NFC championship game. This is the first time the Commanders have made it this far since winning the Super Bowl 33 years ago. Daniels threw for two touchdowns and didn't make any mistakes. His teammate, Mike Sainristil, made two interceptions. The Lions, who were favorites to win the Super Bowl, lost because they made too many mistakes.

They turned the ball over five times, which is a lot in a football game. The Commanders' coach, Dan Quinn, said Daniels is a special player. He's only the second rookie quarterback to beat a top-seeded team in the playoffs. The Commanders will play the winner of the game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles next week.
