Weather on Your Mac Menu: A New Casual Way to Check Forecasts

Mac users have long felt a bit abandoned when it comes to weather updates. Unlike Windows, which displays weather info right in the taskbar, Mac users had to settle for opening the Weather app or adding a widget to their desktop. Not as convenient, right? But good news is here! Apple is rolling out a new feature in macOS Sequoia 15. 2 Beta 3 that finally puts a dedicated weather widget in the menu bar. To get this feature, you'll need to update your macOS to the developer beta version. Don't worry, it won't be long before the rest of us can join in. Once you've updated, head to System Settings, scroll to Control Center, and you'll find the Menu Bar Only section. Here, you can add the Weather widget to your menu bar.

Now, without lifting a finger, you'll see the temperature and weather conditions right on your menu bar. Click on the weather icon, and a pop-out menu shows you the hourly forecast and highs and lows for the day. You can even keep an eye on the weather in other cities you've added to the Weather app. Apple's widget is pretty straightforward, though. No fancy customization here. It uses your location by default and shows the cities you've added in the Weather app. If you're after more features like detailed hourly forecasts or custom icons, third-party apps like Forecast Bar or MenuBar Weather might be your thing. Just remember to check their privacy policies.
