The news about the movie deal doesn't mean that plans for the animated TV series on Netflix have been scrapped. Hasbro has also licensed Magic: The Gathering to Netflix for an animated TV series. So, the new deal hasn't canceled or overwritten the old one. There are no dates or plans so there may be a long wait for both the movie and the Netflix series.

If you think about it, Legendary Entertainment has a lot of experience with movies based on popular games and comics. So, it is interesting to think how they might approach Magic: The Gathering.  Legendary Entertainment is known for making big blockbusters.  The studio has produced movies with a dark and dramatic tone, such as Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, Inception, Zack Snyder’s movie adaptations like Man of Steel and Watchmen, and movies like Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.
