What's Next for Tech Giants with Trump Back in the White House?
USAFriday, November 8, 2024
Looking back at Trump's past presidency and his recent campaign trail comments gives us a clue about what's ahead. One major concern is Trump's proposed import tariffs, which could shake up the tech industry and consumer spending. Last year, he suggested a 10 percent universal tariff and even floated ideas for tariffs up to 100 percent on goods from China and Mexico. This has Apple and other big retailers worried, as they rely heavily on Chinese manufacturing and components.
Experts at the equity research firm Bernstein have a different take. They believe Apple might not be as badly hit as it seems, thanks to its ability to absorb higher tariffs. Plus, Apple is smartly diversifying its supply chain, with production in places like Vietnam.
