Vaccines are not just a topic of debate. They play a vital role in our nation's health. One crucial player in this field is the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). They're responsible for keeping us safe from deadly diseases.

     HHS does a lot.

     They get us ready for communicable diseases.

     They work on cures for all sorts of problems.

     They care for the safety of the American people.

     Let's go back in time. A long time ago, a young kid named Tammy was in the hospital. It was rough. The experience is vivid.

     As a result, fighting against dangerous diseases has become a passion for her. Tammy also makes decisions. She evaluates the nominees for important positions like HHS. Her job? Dr. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was up for the role. She wasn't convinced.

     Kennedy is famous for disputing something big. Vaccines.

     He claims that no vaccine is safe.

     Including the ones that stop diseases like polio and measles.

     He even thought the COVID-19 jab was dangerous. Imagine that.

     In 2007 there were  problems.  83 people died because of measles. This happened in Samoa. Kennedy fuelled the anti-vaccination movement. He is accused of spreading false information to stop vaccinations.

      Vaccines have actually exterminated many deadly diseases. Kennedy's actions are full of bad science. He threatens to re-structure a key agency in the US. Hundreds of thousands of lives have been saved since vaccines have been part of our lives. A lot of people are speaking out against him. Why? The issue is that Kennedy doesn't trust science. That doesn't mix well.

What could this mean for kids and families?

     What if someone looks at their choices and sees how dangerous they are?

     We need leaders who trust science.

     If Kennedy runs the Department of Health and Human Services, then we might not have that.

     Tammy is against his appointment because he puts people at risk. A lot of folks agree.  In 2016, during Samoas measles outbreak, a lot of kids died.  Over 15, 000 have been saved in the US from polio in the past year. Vaccines don't cause autism. Another misconception Kennedy has propagated. The World Health Organisation backs safe and effective vaccines.

     Let's make it simple.

     Kennedy Jr's ideas are a recipe for disaster. Not everyone agrees though. Vaccines have saved millions of lives globally.

     Vaccine safety is absolutely important.

     But what are the risks to everyday life if we all stop vaccinating our children?

     In two words.  Very scary.

     We deserve a leader who trusts science.

     Tammy's stance is clear.

     Kennedy Jr's rejections of scientifically proven vaccines are a huge problem.

     He could do real damage.

     So, what?

     Simple.

     Americans need a health official in charge of the biggest health organization. Kennedy is not that person. Let's face it. Our health is on the line
