Why Aren't More Women at the Top of Music Companies?
Tuesday, December 17, 2024
Despite some progress, like the growing number of female CEOs in Nashville, the music industry is still mostly led by men. This lack of diversity can make it tough for women to climb the ladder. Many feel excluded from key conversations and decision-making processes. Some women even leave the industry after facing discrimination or struggling to balance work and family life.
But it's not all bad news. The publishing sector is doing better, with many respected female leaders. And the independent music scene offers alternative paths for women looking to lead. However, major labels still set the industry's tone, and there's a long way to go before we see equal representation at the top.
