Why Aren't Rural African Moms Using Birth Centers?

In many parts of Africa, particularly in the rural areas, the loss of mothers during childbirth is unusually high. In sub-Saharan regions, this problem is even more severe. Despite the efforts to bring skilled medical professionals to these areas, many women still don’t get the help they need when giving birth. Take rural Ghana, for instance: nearly half of the women there don't use these birth centers. This is a clear indicator that something isn't right. It might be time to rethink some of the beliefs that hold women back. We need to dig deeper and understand the reasons behind this. It’s crucial to take action now to ensure the safety of mothers and their newborns during childbirth.

Maybe the distance to these centers is too far, or maybe there are cultural beliefs that make women hesitant to use them. Perhaps the cost is too high, or the trust in these facilities is low. Understanding the root of the problem will help us tackle it effectively.
