Why Crime is Really on the Rise
USAFriday, October 25, 2024
Cities like Oakland and Chicago are seeing a surge in crime. Oakland's violent crime doubled, and even with a slight decrease, Chicago still had the most homicides in the U. S. for the 12th year in a row. New York City's "major crimes" hit a 17-year high. And let's not forget about the youth crime surge. In New York, juvenile major crimes increased by over 1, 300 compared to 2017. Washington, D. C. , saw carjackings double, with 66% of arrests involving juveniles.
So, why do people feel crime is rising? Because it is. It's up in major cities and nationwide. Even the FBI's initial report was incomplete. Politicians trying to ease criminal penalties and denying the problem don't help. Every locked-up item in the store and closed business is a reminder that criminals are getting bolder, and one political party isn't acknowledging it.
