The same thing happened in 2024. The FBI said violent crime fell by 15%, but that didn't include Los Angeles, where violent crime rose by 2. 9%. Even the Department of Justice's survey found a 37% increase in violent crime since Trump's last year in office.

Cities like Oakland and Chicago are seeing a surge in crime. Oakland's violent crime doubled, and even with a slight decrease, Chicago still had the most homicides in the U.
