Why Do People Love This Super Gory Clown Movie?
USAMonday, October 14, 2024
Art the Clown isn't new to the scene. He's been around since 2008 in short films. The first Terrifier movie came out in 2016 and made back its budget many times over. Each sequel has been more successful than the last. Now, Terrifier 3, with a $2 million budget, is the biggest movie in the US after earning $18.3 million in its first weekend.
Why are these movies so popular? For one, they're not your typical studio horror movies. They're independently made and unrated, appealing to hardcore horror fans who are tired of watered-down scares. Plus, if you can laugh at the darkness, they're actually kind of funny.
Take Joker: Folie à Deux, for example. It was supposed to be the big movie of October, but it flopped. Maybe because it tried too hard to be different from the first Joker movie, which made it less enjoyable.
So, what's the takeaway? People love movies about violent villains, as long as they don't start singing. Ever think about Art the Clown bursting into a show tune? Probably not the best idea.
