Why Medical Schools Need to Stay Out of Politics
Italy, BariSaturday, September 28, 2024
While some may argue that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices are necessary to address health disparities, these efforts often do more harm than good. Rather than promoting divisiveness, medical schools should focus on cultivating excellent doctors who treat patients with compassion and respect, regardless of their background or social status.
As a practicing physician, I've seen patients from all walks of life, and I've treated them with the same level of care and respect. It's not about looking or thinking differently; it's about providing the best possible medical care. Medical schools should prioritize this mission above all else.
