Why Trump's Poll Numbers Are Surprisingly Strong in Georgia
SouthFriday, September 27, 2024
Georgia has a higher concentration of African Americans, who tend to vote Democratic, but it also has a growing and increasingly Democratic Atlanta metro area. However, North Carolina, another key battleground state, has a higher concentration of white voters without college degrees, who tend to vote Republican. This demographic could be a key factor in Trump's slightly better polling numbers in Georgia.
Another intriguing possibility is that the polls are missing a significant number of Trump supporters who plan to vote early. Half of registered voters plan to vote early this fall, with Democrats running up the score among early voters. However, Republicans are getting stronger backing from those who plan to vote in person on Election Day.
