Why Women Under 50 Face More Cancer Than Men
USAFriday, January 17, 2025
Smoking rates among women have dropped, but not as much as men's. Cervical cancer is also increasing among women aged 30 to 44, possibly due to vaccine hesitancy and delayed screenings. Obesity is another factor, with women and younger generations more likely to be overweight. Lifestyle changes can reduce cancer risk, as about half of all cancers are linked to behavior. Better screening and imaging technology are also detecting more early-stage cancers. While overall survival rates are improving, some cancer death rates are rising.
