Boulder County Red Flag Warning Issued for Friday

Time: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Hazard: Wind & low humidity

Boulder County will face a red flag warning from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, meaning conditions could make any fire spread quickly. The National Weather Service says the main danger is wind and low humidity.

  • Wind: 15–25 mph, gusts up to 40 mph at lower elevations
  • Humidity: Drops to just 8 % – drying out vegetation and fuels

Because of these conditions, the county has issued Stage 1 burn restrictions: no open or agricultural burning is allowed anywhere in the area. The warning covers elevations below 6,000 feet; if a fire starts there, the wind could push it fast and wide.

What residents should do

  • Check on any potential ignition sources
  • Remember even small sparks can become huge flames when the air is dry and the wind blows

Stay alert, follow local rules, and help keep the area safe. Fire danger can change quickly—keep updated through official channels.
