Will Nebraska's Electoral Votes Be the Deciding Factor in the 2024 Election?
Nebraska, Omaha, USAMonday, September 23, 2024
To make matters more interesting, the 2nd Congressional District is currently represented by Democratic Congresswoman Kathy Hochul. If the district votes Democrat, it could very well seal the deal for the Democratic candidate.
On Sunday, Senator Lindsey Graham, a top ally of former President Donald Trump, called on Nebraska lawmakers to change the state's electoral vote system to a winner-take-all system. Graham argues that this change could give Trump an edge in the race.
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has also weighed in on the issue, stating that he would be willing to call a special legislative session to change the state's electoral vote system if there is enough public support.
The Nebraska Democratic Party has already begun to show support for the state's current electoral vote system, with yard signs popping up across the state featuring a blue dot on a white background.
