Will Trump's Education Secretary Be a WWE Co-Founder?

Linda McMahon, the co-chair of Donald Trump's presidential transition team and wife of WWE co-founder Vince McMahon, might become the next secretary of the U. S. Department of Education. This is the same agency that Trump has promised to dismantle. Initially, McMahon was considered for the secretary of commerce position, but that job went to Howard Lutnick, the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald. McMahon has previously served as the head of the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term. She left that role to lead a pro-Trump super PAC called America First Action. She also co-founded and helped grow WWE into a massive media empire with her husband.

McMahon’s history includes two unsuccessful runs for the U. S. Senate in Connecticut, in 2010 and 2012. Recently, there have been legal issues involving the McMahons, including a lawsuit from late last month that alleges they were aware of sexual abuse of young "ring boys" by a WWE announcer in the 1980s and '90s. Vince McMahon stepped down from his role at TKO earlier this year following allegations of sexual misconduct, which he denies. The think tank America First Policy Institute (AFPI), which McMahon helped establish, has been preparing for a potential second Trump term by drafting executive actions and policy memos.
