The National Weather Service warned of strong Santa Ana winds, with gusts up to 100 mph in some areas. These winds, combined with dry conditions, created perfect conditions for rapid fire spread. Peak winds were expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the strongest gusts in certain areas like the San Gabriel foothills and San Fernando Valley. The windstorm posed a high risk for large fires with very rapid spread and extreme fire behavior.
