Wednesday is set to be a cool and breezy day in South Louisiana, thanks to a cold front moving through. The northeast winds are expected to blow at speeds between 15 to 25 mph, bringing in a chilly air mass. So, bundle up! Temperatures will dip to around 53°F in the Capital City and even lower in parishes near the state line. The highs will only reach the low 70s, so a light jacket might be needed throughout the day. But hold on, there's a catch! With these breezy conditions and dry air, there's a higher risk of fires spreading quickly. That's why a Red Flag Warning is in place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Outdoor burning is not recommended because the dry soil from the recent lack of rain makes things even riskier. As the day turns into night, the clear skies will be perfect for comet spotting. However, temperatures will start to drop quickly after sunset, reaching the mid-40s by early Thursday morning. The good news is that the winds will start to calm down on Thursday, making the morning feel less chilly. The high temperatures will stay in the 70s on Thursday and Friday, with plenty of sunshine. But don't expect much rain in the next week, so keep your plants and lawns watered! Out in the tropics, there's an area of low pressure hanging out over the central tropical Atlantic. It's moving west and could develop into a tropical depression by the end of the week as it heads toward the Leeward Islands. Another system in the southwestern Caribbean Sea might bring heavy rain to Central America later this week.
