Are you ready for some snow? Several towns in York County have declared snow emergencies for Sunday, January 19. The National Weather Service expects 3 to 7 inches of snow during the day, with another 1 to 2 inches at night. Be careful, as temperatures might drop to 27 degrees Fahrenheit by 5 p. m. , with wind gusts up to 21 mph. PennDOT is reducing speeds on key highways. Interstate 83, I-81, I-78, and I-283 will all have speed limits of 45 mph. Commercial vehicles that aren't affected must stick to the right lane. Additionally, PennDOT has imposed Tier 1 vehicle restrictions on certain roads. This means vehicles like unloaded tractors, passenger cars towing trailers, and school buses can't use these routes. These restrictions start at 6 a. m. and include highways like I-83 and the PA Turnpike (I-76). With heavy snow and low temperatures forecasted, it's best to stay safe. Check before you head out, as many events and activities might be canceled or postponed.
