Women Who Lead the Way

As the world continues to grapple with the complexities of business and philanthropy, it's crucial to recognize the trailblazing women who are breaking down barriers and rewriting the rules. In an effort to highlight their achievements, CNBC is calling for nominations for the second annual Changemakers list, which celebrates women who have defied the odds and made a meaningful impact in their respective fields. In 2024, women like Dina Powell McCormick, Vice Chairman and President of Global Client Services, and former U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategy, joined the CNBC Changemakers Advisory Board to help determine the criteria used to select the women recognized on the list. Other notable members of the advisory board include Tory Burch, Founder of Tory Burch Foundation and Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Tory Burch LLC, and Laurene Powell Jobs, Founder and President of Emerson Collective.

Despite the progress made by women in business, there is still a long way to go. According to a report by executive search firm Spencer Stuart, female representation on S&P 500 boards has reached a historic high, with 34% of board seats held by women. However, the pipeline to grow the number of female CEOs is fragile, and it will take 22 years for white women and 48 years for women of color to reach parity in the workforce, according to the latest Women in the Workplace Report from LeanIn and McKinsey. That's why the mission of the Changemakers list is more crucial than ever.
