Yankees Stumble in ALCS Game 3: Guardians Strike Back
Cleveland, USASaturday, October 19, 2024
The real drama started with closer Emmanuel Clase. He's been called the best in baseball, but Aaron Judge hit a home run off him, tying the game. Giancarlo Stanton followed with a homer, putting the Yankees ahead. Unfortunately, the Yankees' own closers, Luke Weaver and Clay Holmes, let the Guardians back in with home runs.
The Yankees' bullpen and pitching were not the only issues. Jose Trevino, starting behind the plate, made a costly mistake by getting picked off. The Guardians' strategy of running on him worked well. First baseman Anthony Rizzo also had a rough night, making errors that cost the Yankees.
Manager Aaron Boone now has some tough decisions to make. He needs to figure out the best lineup and defensive alignment to keep the Guardians from stealing more wins.
