North Charleston Man Faces Serious Charges After Intentional Car Collision

  • Arrest and Interview
The driver, Joseph Gordon Jr., was taken into custody after officers heard him admit he wanted to kill the other vehicle’s passengers. During the interview he appeared visibly upset, crying and behaving oddly. When his sister called him later, she could not corroborate his claim about a deceased child; the video evidence showed the child alive.
  • Search Findings
Officers discovered marijuana odor and a blunt in Gordon’s car. They also seized:
  • A small bag of pills testing positive for MDMA and fentanyl
  • Approximately 3.5 grams of weed in a sealed bag
  • A gun and two magazines

  • Victim’s Response
The victim’s driver urged police to press charges.

  • Detention Status
Gordon was first placed in emergency protective custody, then booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center after warrants were issued.

  • Charges
The case now moves forward with the following accusations:
  • Attempted murder
  • Drug trafficking
  • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
  • Driving while suspended

The court will determine the next steps in this case.
