Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom players have already found incredible ‘hacks’

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom sports an enormous toolkit. With the help of a fairy named Tri, Princess Zelda can summon copies of over 100 world items and beasts called "echoes." This system allows players to get creative with how they solve puzzles and navigate the world. Since its release last week, players have been finding crafty combinations of echoes to obliterate opponents and seemingly break the rules of the game itself.

Players assume the role of Princess Zelda, who uses her Bind power to move objects at a distance. This skill, combined with the dozens of items, has given players a giant canvas with which to tinker and break the game. One player found a way to fly by baiting a crow with a hunk of meat, while another used a spider to climb a steep cliff. Another player sent Zelda flying up a mountain by using a bed and a gust of wind, and another used a table and a flying creature to soar through the air. The developers' mantra for the game was to allow players to be "mischievous." According to Eiji Aonuma, the long-time producer, the team wanted to add something to the game that was "really out there." Director Tomomi Sano said the team wanted players to "find uses for echoes that are so ingenious it almost feels like cheating," and that it's part of what makes the game fun.
