Zoo’s Easter Egg Hunt Gets a New Date
The Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth typically hosts its annual Easter Eggstravaganza during the holiday weekend, drawing families for a full day of spring activities. However, this year’s weather forecast called for two winter storms on Easter Sunday, prompting the zoo to close its doors on Saturday, April 4—the day the event was originally scheduled.
A New Plan
Instead of canceling, organizers announced a new schedule:
- Date: Sunday, May 3, 2026
- Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Zoo members enjoy a special early slot from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.)
- Tickets: $15 online, $20 at the gate; members enter free
The rescheduled event will feature a golden egg hunt—the prize is a brand‑new bike—and additional activities such as coloring contests, games, animal enrichment displays, arts and crafts, and food trucks.
Why May?
Moving the event to May aims to avoid the forecasted snowstorms, though spring weather can still be unpredictable. Families who missed the original Saturday event now have a fresh opportunity to join in the festivities on Sunday.
