Zuckerberg Eyes Miami Mansion as Tech Rich Shift to Florida
Meta Platforms founder Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly eyeing a home in Indian Creek, the exclusive island known as the “Billionaires Bunker.”
Other high‑profile residents there include Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, Jeff Bezos, Carl Icahn and Tom Brady.
Zuckerberg already owns several properties:
- California – a house near Palo Alto and another near Lake Tahoe
- Hawaii – multiple residences
- Washington, D.C. – a property
It’s unclear whether the Florida purchase will be a new primary residence or simply another addition to his portfolio.
Why Miami?
The timing coincides with California’s debate over a one‑time wealth tax targeting unrealized gains of billionaires. The proposal has prompted exits from the state by investors such as Peter Thiel and David Sacks.
While a Meta spokesperson declined to comment, the Wall Street Journal first reported Zuckerberg’s potential move. The trend continues as other tech leaders migrate south:
- Larry Page (Google co‑founder) owns three Miami homes totaling ~$190 million
- Sergey Brin (Google co‑founder) is purchasing a ~$50 million home near Biscayne Bay
Indian Creek’s renowned golf course and stringent security make it a coveted enclave. Zuckerberg has also been spotted at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, underscoring his ties to the former president.
California’s Proposed Tax
California is still gathering signatures for a 5% net‑worth tax on assets over $1 billion, slated for the November ballot. The revenue would fund health care, education, and food aid but has sparked a strong pro‑business counter‑movement.
The Building a Better California coalition, backed by donors like Sergey Brin and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, has raised roughly $35 million to oppose the measure.
