Bar Space Rule Gets a Shake‑Up

Portland is thinking about scrapping an old rule that keeps bars a set distance apart in the downtown area. The law, made in the 1990s and kept alive when a special entertainment zone was created in 2007, was meant to stop too many nightclubs from clustering together and causing noise or fights.
