Weekend Fun in Anchorage: A Fresh Look at Free Events

Anchorage, Alaska, USAThursday, June 4, 2026
Anchorage has a busy weekend ahead, but many activities are free or low cost. Start the week with Live After Five on F Street; Denali Cooks will play at sunset, and the space feels like a block party. The venue has shifted from Town Square Park to a street corner, giving it a new vibe. On Thursday night, the Hot Club of Nunaka kicks off the summer concert series at Balto Seppala Park. The Anchorage Concert Association hosts this free event, and the music will set a great tone for the rest of the summer. Later that evening, Detroit rapper Sada Baby will perform at Club Nyt Lyt. Fans can buy tickets for about $55 and hear hits like “Bloxk Party. ” Friday starts early with the Slam’n Salm’n Derby at The Bait Shack. Participants can fish from 7 a. m. to 7 p. m. over three weekends, and the awards ceremony will happen on June 21 at Kings Landing. Proceeds help local nonprofits, so it’s a good way to support the community while enjoying fresh salmon.
The Spenard Jazz Fest continues into Sunday, with concerts and workshops at several venues. Friday features the Anchorage Museum and Paradise Club; Saturday adds Music on the Lawn, Organic Oasis, Refuge Coffee, and more. Sunday’s full day of music moves to The Nave. Tickets vary by venue, so check the festival site for details. Saturday hosts a mix of celebrations: the Alaska Run for Women at UAA, raising money for breast cancer awareness; and the 3 Barons Renaissance Fair on Pine Street, where live combat, music, juggling, and a pirate theme entertain visitors. Prices are $12 for adults and $6 for kids. The People’s Pride, a free community event, also runs in the afternoon with vendors and performances. Sunday brings community support with Thriving Together, a National Cancer Survivors Day gathering at the Lidia Selkregg Chalet. Local groups and the American Cancer Society collaborate to celebrate survivors. Meanwhile, First Friday continues across town with free art shows and live music at museums, hotels, studios, and galleries.
